The experts are expecting tough negotiations about the draft agreement on the Eurasian Economic Union.
On April 29 the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council summit takes place in Minsk, BelTA informs. The event will be hosted by Belarus President Aliaksandr Lukashenka.
The agenda of the summit will include the consideration of the progress made in the work on the draft Eurasian Economic Union Treaty and the implementation of the action plan (roadmap) on Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia.
In the framework of the summit Aliaksandr Lukashenka is expected to hold bilateral meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev.
The experts are expecting that the negotiations will be tough.
Earlier Nursultan Nazarbaev was reported saying that the ongoing integration of the post-Soviet countries is not "the reincarnation of the Soviet Union”, and also defined Russian-Kazakh ties as "an example of partnership between neighbors," RFE/RL quotes him saying.
Earlier EuroBelarus Information Service informed that the agreement on the creation of the Eurasian Economic Union is expected to be signed next month. Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan are founding members of the Customs Union, which is the basis for the upcoming EES.
He said Belarus would likely face economic tightening not only as a result of the coronavirus pandemic but also a Russian trade oil crisis that worsened this past winter.
