The majority of Ukrainian citizens who took part
in the Ukrainian parliamentary elections in Belarus, cast their votes in favour
of the Party of Regions.
There were
two polling stations in Belarus: one in the Ukrainian Embassy in Minsk (for
Ukrainians residing in Minsk, Vitebsk, Gomel and Mogilev oblasts) and General
Consulate of Ukraine in Brest (for residents of Brest and Grodno oblasts).
A total of
419 people appeared for voting to the Ukrainian Embassy in Minsk, spokesman for
the Embassy Leonid Yasinsky told BelTA. Of them 205 voted for the Party of
Regions, 76 – for Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc, 69 – for Our Ukraine-People's
Self-Defence (OU-PSD), 17 – for the Communist Party of Ukraine, 11 - for the
Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine, seven - for Volodymyr Lytvyn's bloc,
six - for the Socialist Party of Ukraine. Six people voted against all the
parties. A representative of the Party of Regions observed the voting.
All the
conditions for fair elections were ensured, Leonid Yasinsky said. No written
complains about the voting were received.
In Brest, 150 Ukrainians appeared for voting. Of them 66 voted for the
Party of Regions, 34 – for Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc, 17 – for OU-PSD, BelTA learnt
in the General Consulate of Ukraine in Brest. Representatives of Yulia
Tymoshenko Bloc and the Party of Regions observed the voting process. No claims
to the election commission were made.
