Belarus is
holding talks with Lithuania to minimise the cost of Lithuanian visas for
Belarusian citizens, Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky told media in
Vilnius on October 3.
In turn, Chairman
of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Lithuanian Seimas Justinas Karosas
remarked, visa procedures might be simplified for some categories of
citizens.
After
Lithuania accedes to the Schengen Zone Agreement on January 1, 2008, a
Lithuanian visa will cost €60. Earlier Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary of Lithuania to Belarus Edminas Bagdonas said, “It is not a
bilateral decision. If Belarus reaches an agreement with the European Union,
Lithuanian visas may cost €35 — as much as Russians, Moldavians, and
Ukrainians pay”.
