Being a part of the whole. A week of active citizenship is taking place in Belarus
Thursday, 29 October 2009
A
week of Civic Participation is a campaign initiated by the Central and Eastern
European network of civic initiatives, which was organized in order to
introduce the issue of citizen’s participation in the decision-making process
in the European media, politics and among civil society organizations. The Week
consists of a series of public events. These events were designed to draw
attention to the issues related to the civil society, issues of social welfare,
community development and citizens’ participation. Organizers and participants intended
to show that all this can be achieved in practice. The Civic Participation Week
program covers local, regional and national actions, as well as events for the
media.
The organizers of the Week are
participants of the Central and Eastern European Citizens Network (CEE Citizens
Network). Week-long events will be held in 19 countries. In Belarus within the
framework of the week of Civic Participation the following events will take
place:
- a conference on "The Eastern
Partnership Civil Society Forum: Agenda for Belarus”, will be held on 2nd
November in Minsk and
- a round table "Participation
of the civil society in the Eastern Partnership initiative at the regional
level”, will be held 31st October in Gomel.
