The EU-funded Project on Biomechanical Research and Elaboration of Methods to Improve Children’s Gait Apparatus from Podlasie and Grodno Regions in Belarus concluded first six months of its work. During this period the project finalised the first preparatory stage to the international conference on Biomechanics of Human Foot” to be held on 18-19 June 2008 in Grodno, Belarus.
During the first six months Belarusian researchers also selected and adapted methodologies of anthropometrical, barometrical and clinical research. They developed a multilingual information resource (http://resource-nanb.narod.ru) to provide direct access to statistics and analytical biochemical information for Belarusian and Polish researchers.
Moreover, the project provided up-to-date equipment for an orthopedic cabinet and developed methods to improve individual gait apparatus based on barometrical and plantographical data.
To conduct the first series of biomechanical research managers of the project selected a group of 89 children including both healthy children and those with dysfunctions of gait apparatus. Results of the research were published on the project’s information resource.
The project brings together the following researchers: prof. zw. dr hab. inz. A. Sviridenok, dr hab. L. Gaida, dr hab. med. V. Lahkovski, Ph.D. M. Ihnatouski, L. Sychevski, D.
