Ambassador: EU concerned about lack of democratic progress in Belarus

The
European Union is concerned about the lack of progress toward democracy in
Belarus recently, outgoing British Ambassador Nigel Gould-Davies said at a
farewell news conference in Minsk on September 1, BelaPAN said.
British Ambassador to Belarus Nigel Gould Davis said at the end of his
diplomatic mission to Belarus that the country still had process
hindering its cooperation with the European Union.

Despite of that, the EU is set to insist on fulfilling conditions of democratization by Belarus. It
has been stated by Benita Ferrero-Waldner, European Commissioner for
External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy, on Monday to
journalists after the first day of the ministerial meeting of the EU.

The chairman of the European Central Bank (ECB), Jean-Claude Trichet, has given an exclusive interview to the Robert Schuman
Foundation with regard to the economic and financial crisis and the means to overcome it.

Swindon for Belarussian children, who have been affected by the
Chernobyl nuclear disaster.The nuclear accident took place on April 25, 1986, and wind carried
radiation north over Belarus. Children in the country are particularly
susceptible to radiation induced illnesses and many have leukaemia,
cancer of the thyroid and other cancers.Babies are still being born with serious deformities.
