Belarus, Poland to discuss Dnieper-Wisla-Oder restoration project

Belarus and Poland are planning to discuss possible cooperation areas in the Dnieper-Wisla-Oder waterway restoration. The agreement was reached during a session of the Belarusian-Polish transport commission, BelTA learnt from Sergei Negrei, head of the foreign economic activity department of the Ministry for Trade and Communications of Belarus.

Hundred Years Anniversary of the Belarusian-Lithuanian literary relations

A Hundred Years Anniversary of the Belarusian-Lithuanian literary relations is celebrated in November 2008. It was in November 1908 when the first Belarusian poem was first translated into the Lithuanian language. It as a poem by Alaiza Pashkevich (Cetka) “Birthday of Freedom” which was translated by a Lithuanian poet and translator Kostas Sciblius and published in Saint-Petersburg. The newspaper “Nasha Niva” published a story by a Lithuanian writer Jonas Biliunas “A Happiness Flower” in the same year.

The President of Belarus did not go to the Belarusian Investment Forum held in London, he only sent his greetings to the participants. Some said that after the lifting of the visa sanctions of the European Union against a number of the Belarusian officials the Foreign Ministry of Belarus was working on the visit of the President to the capital of England and that was confirmed as rumors. Mr. Lukashenko’s appearance at the Ball of Presidents in Warsaw on 11 November remained an assumption as well.

Donald Tusk: Poland will profit from improving relations between the EU and Russia

As BelaPAN reported earlier, the EU announced its decision to continue the interrupted negotiations on a new Base Agreement between the EU and Russia, however warned that it would keep them harsh and that it would build the relations with Russia depending on the bahaviour of the latter.
