Freedom House: Belarus remains dictatorial country

A human rights organisation Freedom House has published an annual
report of the situation with political and civil freedoms in the world.
Belarus is on the list of not free countries again.
Head of pro-government trade union federation calls on EU to cut visa fees for Belarusians

Kozik, head of the pro-government Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FTUB),
called on the European Union to cut Schengen visa fees for Belarusian citizens
when he was speaking at the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum that began
in
Brussels on
Monday.

them experience positive changes: they do not abuse alcohol or drugs,
their families have been restored. A baby will soon be born in one of
the families.

Silver Meikar, an Estonian MP representing the Reform Party, head of
the Association in Defence of Democratic Development of Belarus, says
one should adhere to principles in a dialogue with Lukashenka.
The end of a program that provided relief for children suffering the
effects of the Chernobyl meltdown has disappointed a group of local
families. "Everyone knew this might happen but it's still such
a letdown," says Leigh Classen, whose Sarnia family has for two summers
played host to a 12-year-old boy from Belarus. For the past 14
years, 200 children living with the aftermath of the world's worst
nuclear disaster have come to Canada for a six-week visit and a chance
to boost their immune systems.

People’s will and respect for the heroic history is a source of the
Belarusian sovereignty, Belarusian Head of State Alexander Lukashenko
said at the military parade to mark Independence Day and the 65th
anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazis.
