Authorities try to assure Belarusians the OSCE recognised “election”

Belarusian television didn’t say a single word that the OSCE/ODIHR election monitoring mission didn’t recognise the “parliamentary election” in Belarus and said they had fell short of OSCE standards. Words of heads of the OSCE mission were extracted from context, Russian Vremya programme on ONT stat-controlled was replaced with ads.

On 23 September preliminary voting started in Belarus. Belarusian opposition believes that it creates conditions for falsification of the elections results. There were quite a few cases justifying their position.

"For some reason International organizations, the OSCE in particular, advised to Belarus to abolish preliminary voting practices however to other countries, for instance, to the USA, it was advised to make them more wide spread", said Mikhail Lozovik two years ago.

Protests in Minsk: Belarusians demand new election (ONLINE report)

A protest action demanding to hold new democratic election takes place in Minsk today. The opposition leaders called the “parliamentary election”, held by the authorities today, an “election farce”. According to them, turnout data are overstated, and votes counting is conducted by authorities’ representatives. The Belarusians have been called to come to October Square at 8.00 pm in protest of falsifications.
